My Divine Shrine workshop – Saturday 9th April.

My Divine Shrine workshop – Saturday 9th April.

The Mexican Nicho is a small tin or metal shrine made from mixed media and traditionally combines elements from roman catholicism, spirituality, and popular culture. Sometimes called retablos, these decorative boxes usually hold religious iconography to honour a passed loved one or patron saint.  Starting with a blank metal Nicho, in this one day workshop you will embellish using found objects and bling to personalise your own shrine. Everything is supplied but you can also bring some personalised items. Incorporating the French art of “bricolage” – making art from whatever is available, these shrines are a classic example of Art Povera (or poor mans art).  Your fabulous shrine will be a real talking point!  We only have a few places left in this one day workshop – and is the only workshop of this kind running for 2016.
