Day of the Dead and Frida art doll workshop – a great Mums and Daughters workshop!

Day of the Dead and Frida art doll workshop – a great Mums and Daughters workshop!

Day of the Dead or Día de los Muertos is the Mexican tradition of celebrating those that have passed. The idea of depicting death as colourful and celebratory, whilst not a western concept,  has been celebrated in Mexico for centuries.

pic1In this tradition, this one day workshop will focus on imagery of sugar skulls and Frida Kahlo to create a personalised Art doll. Using a soft cloth blank doll as our base, we will utilise a mostly no sew method, rather we will collage with a variety of paper, tissue and fabric materials.  We will then embellish with flowers, beads, charms and other objects.  Most materials will be provided.

The Creatology Studio is known for its quirky one day workshops focusing on developing each persons own unique style of creativity.  Shelley also runs regular weekly mixed media classes. Head on over to the Full Day mixed Media workshops page to make your booking….This workshop will run on Saturday 24th September – $120 per person with most materials including the doll supplied. This is also a great workshop for mums to do with their daughters – ask me about a special price for booking mum and daughters together! Click here to book!
